Moving for Love: A Look at Moving Trends for Romance

With Valentine’s Day still fresh in our memories, love is still very much in the air and on people’s minds. You may be surprised to know that relocating for love is one of the top reasons for moving, along with location, money (career moves), and community. A recent moving industry study based on online conversations over the last 12 months, that were analyzed and synthesized, show moving trends across the United States. Here are some of the main takeaways:

• Nearly 1 in 5 people have moved for love
• 1 in 3 people who have moved for love have done so more than once
• Women are far more likely to move for love than men: (women: 74.44% men: 25.56%)
• Roughly 60% of people who have moved for love are now in a marriage or long-term committed relationship
• 44% of people who moved for love moved 500 miles away or more
• The average age of someone who has moved for love is 36
• The majority of people who moved for love moved to an urban environment (62.2%)
• 25.98% of those who moved for love moved to suburban areas
