Moving Tips for Spring

Spring is here! Well….almost. With the busiest move season quickly approaching, we thought we would take a moment to share some of our favorite moving tips for readers who may be relocating in the coming months. Did you know, that the most popular time of year to buy or sell a home is in the spring? Also, 1 in 4 homes sells above the asking price between March and May. So if you’re thinking about buying or selling your home, now may be the perfect time to do it!

Check Out These 5 Great Moving Tips:

• Contact your moving company 6-8 weeks in advance. If you are moving during the busy months this is especially important
• Pack one room at a time, leaving out essentials. Start with storage spaces such as attics, garages, and outdoor sheds
• Use a colored labeling system – this way you know where each packed box should go (i.e. yellow tape for living room, blue tape for bedroom)
• Pack essentials last. Have a few boxes set aside for items you will need as soon as you move (bed sheets, coffee maker, toiletries, etc.)
• Make arrangements for pets and plants – many moving companies will not move house plants. Look into possible options for transporting plants, or if need be, sell them or give them away.
