When you move most of your belongings will go onto a moving truck. If you are hiring a moving company to help you, there are some things that you will want to keep on your person or arrange to be moved another way such as in your own personal car or a friend’s. While moving mishaps are unlikely, accidents do happen such as a collision, theft, or damage to items. Many moving companies offer insurance options for the value of your possessions, and on occasion homeowner’s insurance can cover the cost of damaged goods if they are claimed as part of your household. Although moving accidents don’t occur often, it’s still best to be prepared and to keep certain personal items on you throughout the moving process.
